“In a factory space or an industrial space, there’s a certain level of finish that’s not there,” he said. “You make do with chewing gum and tape.”  Last December, Mr. Miller, who had spent more than a decade in Brooklyn lofts, rented a different kind of apartment — a conventional 600-square-foot one-bedroom in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, with distinct separations between the living room, bedroom and bathroom.

An Ode to 70s-Style Living

His intention was to turn it into a “completely designed space,” he said one that was finished right down to the refrigerator door — but there was a catch: he had only $5,000 to spend. Also, because the apartment was a rental, the renovation couldn’t be structural and it had to be portable.

The Living Room

September 17, 2009 |12:36 | Living Room | Tips  By : Team X

"A Room For Living" is the quite literal, and accurate, tag line for the Seminyak restaurant/bar, The Living Room. Located on scenic Jl. Petitenget within close proximity to Legian Beach and the beautiful Petitenget Pura (Balinese Hindu temple), The Living Room is set slightly back and below street level, from which all that is visible is the large tiled roof.

The rest is tucked unassumingly behind an ornate circular white, wrought iron fence and vine facade that allows passers by a mere hint of it's spacious candle-lit grounds and charming al fresco interior that serves its purpose as a fine-dining dinner venue and bar.

The Living Room used to occupy a more conspicuous location across the street where it established itself over 6 years ago as one of Bali's premier restaurants. However, since moving to its present and expanded location almost a year ago, it has re-invented it's physical space in an extremely romantic setting while still maintaining its sensuous ambience and reputation for exceptional Asian cuisine.
