RESIDENTS are calling for speed restrictions to be imposed after a car crashed into their Thorne homes.
An Audi A3 ploughed through two garden walls and into a house on Haynes Road at 11pm on Tuesday.
Now householder Della Moores, who was in the house at the time of the accident, is petitioning to get speed limits put in place after a series of recent incidents.
"My living room is completely wrecked - it's just carnage," said the 40-year-old mum. "If I had stayed awake five minutes longer then we would have been in the living room and luckily my children were out too."
She added: "Now I want road calming affects on this street. "There have been three accidents in a small amount of time and we knew this would be coming at some point because people just speed down here."
Damage was also caused to a car belonging to neighbour Gerald Darley. Councillor for Thorne, Martin Williams, said he has been petitioning for a new speed limit for years.
He said: "I've been to the council today to say that this road should be 20 miles per hour. "Everyone speeds on this road because it's so straight so, it would be great to get in some bumps too to stop people speeding.
Jane Miller, director of neighbourhoods and communities, at Doncaster Council, said: "We take road safety very seriously and use the official accident collisions database to prioritise areas for implementing road safety measures.
"However, we urge all residents to contact 01302 735169 if they have any concerns."South Yorkshire Police said a local man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving. It is believed that two men thought to be in the vehicle fled the scene. Ambulance crews took at least one patient to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
